The DirectTrust nationwide network continues to be depended upon for secure, interoperable communication of healthcare messaging and attachments.
This was the main theme from a recent press release from DirectTrust, which reported that 47.8 million health data exchange transactions in the first quarter of 2018. This an increase of approximately 90 percent over the same time frame in 2017.
By continually breaking key milestones with health data sharing, DirectTrust’s success reinforces how interoperability barriers are continually being broken – and that today’s care organizations are embracing new innovations.
DirectTrust’s President and Chief Executive Officer, David C. Kibbe has been a main driver of the organization’s success. Under his leadership, DirectTrust has grown into a collaborative non-profit association of 121 health IT and health care provider organizations that support secure, interoperable health information exchange via the Direct message protocols.
As highlighted in advance of HIMSS 2018, Dr. Kibbe will be stepping down from his role at the end of the year. Though certainly his vision of enhanced health data exchange will live on with the new organizational leadership.
RosettaHealth has had the special opportunity of having a large portion of DirectTrust network transactions being transited on its health data exchange platform. In line with this recent news, RosettaHealth has also seen rate of exchange increase significantly on its HealthBus platform.
“We are very excited to see the growth in use of Direct messaging,” said Buff Colchagoff, CEO of RosettaHealth, in this press release. “It is clear that Direct has grown out of its Meaningful Use roots into a really valuable transport for many forms of exchange. Having Direct messaging, along with other standards-based messaging in a powerful cloud-based solution, knocks down the last-mile barriers that are common with many big health data efforts.”
RosettaHealth’s cloud-based platform helps to commoditize electronic health record exchange. Rather than costly point-to-point connections, RosettaHealth’s HealthBus solution sends and receives any standard-based health events or records at scale using an innovative SaaS approach. This allows the exchange of data over wide geographic areas at a fraction of the cost and effort of traditional methods.
