Chronic disease management has become a key priority in the healthcare industry. Unlike traditional treatments – where a doctor prescribes a medicine and the patient goes on their way – chronic disease management requires a lifetime of hands-on care by patients and providers.
The key is being able to contain costly health episodes by empowering patients to learn and implement self-care management behaviors. For more than 25 years, NuMedics has designed software applications that incorporate point-of-care data management tools, health analysis features, and telemedicine capabilities into enhanced disease management solutions.
Here’s more detail about the company’s software offerings:
CliniPro: This software application allows care providers to monitor their patients and offer more efficient, more effective care directly from their computer desktops. As an intuitive management system, CliniPro collects, compiles, summarizes and stores patient information for easy, secure access and frequently requested outcomes reporting.
Diabetes Partner: The company has also developed a full suite of products to help patients and care providers establish a partnership in the management of diabetes, and at the same time, lower costs and maintain superior care with its Diabetes Partner solution.
NuMedic’s heritage in the diabetes space goes back to when Kazi Ahmed, the company’s founder, was diagnosed with diabetes and was motivated to develop an innovative solution. Ahmed created a blood glucose tracking system for use on his hand-held computer – the first of its kind. Ahmed then invented a program that allowed him to upload data from his blood glucose meter directly to his computer. From there, along with his life savings and additional funding from investors, the company was born.
As highlighted by this recent Patient Engagement HIT article, the future of disease management is all about enabling patients to help themselves. Thankfully, NuMedics has been on the forefront of this approach for more than 25 years, and will surely continue to do so in the future.
