Q&A Interview: New RosettaHealth Product Manager Discusses Key Trends in Health Data Exchange, HIMSS 2018 and More
Health information exchange and interoperability were key themes at the recent HIMSS 2018 conference, and the RosettaHealth “community” played a pivotal role in bringing this topic to the forefront at the event.
In the following Q&A interview, Patricia, the new Product Manager for RosettaHealth, shares her insights on the significant opportunities and challenges when it comes to health data exchange, key topics and trends at HIMSS 2018, and much more.
RosettaHealth: Tell us a bit about your background in the health IT arena.
Patricia: I have more than 25 years experience in healthcare IT, starting in pharmacy arena, and later moving into the risk and quality management space. I have been in the Meaningful Use (MU) joint commission spectrum for about 7 years now, and served as the MU lead consultant for a Maryland hospital for transitioning into MU. Currently, I am working with a state HIE, involved with bringing additional facilities into the Maryland health information exchange environment. And, I am very excited to be starting in my new role at RosettaHealth in April.
RosettaHealth: What are some of the key opportunities and challenges with regards to health information exchange?
Patricia: Patient care and transition of care are key opportunity areas right now, especially when it comes to achieving true collaboration. Providers are now sharing more information electronically in effective ways. For example, stroke centers can easily allow patients to be treated at different facilities with minimal issues with sharing patient data. In terms of challenges, I see establishing true connectivity and getting care staff comfortable with the process still being hurdles that need to be addressed.
RosettaHealth: How was HIMSS 2018 for you, and what were the key themes from the event?
Patricia: One of the key things that stuck out to me was how many different companies seemed to be offering very similar solutions. Rather than working in silos, it would be ideal to have more collaboration between these organizations with the mission and goal of achieving true health data exchange.
In terms of the “community” that RosettaHealth promoted at HIMSS 2018, this was a very powerful message that resonated very well. This is an approach that I had not seen in the past, and it will ultimately help the platform to evolve even further with such a deep connection with the actual users.
RosettaHealth: Tell us about why you think solutions like the RosettaHealth platform can help break down the barriers of health data exchange.
Patricia: RosettaHealth has the unique ability to move large amounts of data seamlessly and effortlessly without the additional risk of losing critical patient information. This will help with sharing patient data, transitions of care, preventive medicine, and much more. I am very excited to be part of the RosettaHealth team and help the company break even more boundaries when it comes to health data exchange
